When should my child first see an orthodontist?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic evaluation by around age 7. By then your child has enough permanent teeth for Dr. Leung to spot developing bite or alignment issues, and catching them early can sometimes prevent more involved treatment later on.
An early visit doesn't always mean early treatment. Often the right call is simply to monitor your child's growth and start at the ideal moment. Either way, you'll leave the free consultation knowing exactly where things stand.
Early (Phase 1) treatment
For some children, treating while they still have baby teeth can guide jaw growth and create room for permanent teeth to come in properly. Early treatment can help with:
- Crossbites, underbites, and protruding front teeth
- Crowding, before it becomes severe
- Habits like prolonged thumb-sucking that affect the bite
Braces & options for kids and teens
When it's time for full treatment, we offer the whole range: traditional metal braces, Damon Clear self-ligating braces, and Invisalign (including Invisalign for teens) for the right candidates. Dr. Leung will recommend what genuinely fits your child's case rather than a one-size-fits-all plan.
A practice parents trust
Parents tell us they appreciate Dr. Leung's patience and the way she explains every step to both the child and the parent. As one review put it: "Our daughter has been with Dr. Leung from the beginning of her journey with her braces... She has made this entire journey comfortable, affordable and accommodating." We accept most major insurance plans and consultations are always free.
